After returning from playing professional soccer overseas, Michael was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He was transferred to The Princess Margaret for treatment, where he received chemotherapy and a revolutionary new immunotherapy drug to eliminate any remaining cancer cells. After his loving sister was found to be a 10/10 donor, he underwent a stem cell transplant to reduce the likelihood of the cancer coming back. Today, Michael is cancer-free and planning a wedding with his fiancée, Amalia.
Camilla
Camilla joined The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in 2022, at the same time her stepmother’s breast cancer relapsed. For Camilla, joining the Foundation’s Corporate and Community Partnership team was a way for her to support her family, as well as other patients and their loved ones who are going through cancer. She’s been at The Foundation ever since, dedicating her days to the vision of a world free from the fear of cancer.
